Kindergarten or First Grade Teacher – The Academy of Alameda – Alameda, CA

We are seeking extraordinary educators committed to closing the opportunity gap, serving a diverse student population, and collaborating deeply with all members of our school community. Additionally, we are seeking teachers who are excited about helping to build a school from the ground up, who take initiative and leadership roles, and who see challenges as opportunities for growth.

For the 2015-2016 school year we are hiring two kindergarten teachers and two first grade teachers.

What is The Academy? The Academy of Alameda Elementary School is a new charter school, opening with kindergarten and first grade in August, 2015. We will add a grade each year until we are a K-5 school, at which point we will merge with The Academy’s existing middle school (currently in its fourth year) to be a fully integrated K-8 program.

What Makes AoA Different? We believe in efficacy. At the core of our academic culture is the idea that all students are capable of doing well in any discipline. At The Academy, all students will learn. We support and develop the effectiveness of our teachers. We believe that teachers need time to collaborate to build their practice, so we provide them daily planning time, as well as additional days for curriculum development and training during the school year. We partner with families. Families are integral to the successful education of their children. We build positive, collaborative relationships with them by conducting annual home visits and by fostering their ongoing support.
