ASEP’s mission is to provide the community with equal access to quality after school enrichment programming. ASEP combines the core values of Arts Enrichment, Academic Support and Health and Wellness into a comprehensive and specialized educational experience. We serve over 450 San Francisco youth in grades kindergarten through 5th grade during after school and summer time programming. Through a mixed funding model, 250 at-risk or underserved students attend our program completely free. Today we are hiring for Program Leaders and Program Aides and we are looking for interested applicants to apply today.
Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Lego/Engineering Instructor will implement a developmentally appropriate Lego based design and engineering class for school age children (Kinder through 4th grade) participating in (ASEP) After School Enrichment Program.
Responsibilities:
-Plan and facilitate interactive lessons based on Lego design and engineering.
-Submit curriculum/lesson plans to ASEP’s Program Director on a monthly basis.
-Ensure safe and attentive supervision of children at all times.
-Interact with children in a positive, responsive and caring manner.
-Maintain the shared day teacher’s classroom orderly and cleanly and respect their belongings.
-Communicate concerns and ideas with parents, coworkers, and directors.
-Properly handle center equipment and supplies.
-Follow supply request/reimbursement protocol.
-Ensure students are signed in and out correctly each day.
-Send bimonthly invoices to ASEP’s administrative assistant.
-Be familiar with the Employee Handbook and follow all policies and procedures regarding behavior and classroom management.
-Prepare for a performance for parents and school community at the end of each semester to showcase student work.
Minimum Qualifications:
-Science/Engineering Background
-Previous experience to elementary age children.
-At least 50 hours working in a child care setting under the direction of a Child Care Center Director.
-Interest in working with children.
-Ability to work independently and on a team.
-Ability to work with children in a positive and caring manner
-Must be at least 18 years of age.
-Fingerprint/Department of Justice and TB clearance
Work Hours: Friday 1:50pm — 3:00pm

Compensation: $60 per class ($30 for hour w/ students and $30 for planning hour)
Benefits: This position is less that 30 hours and is not eligible for benefits.
