GENERAL FUNCTION
The Education Manager is responsible for managing multiple projects and initiatives in the development, delivery and evaluation of the Cancer Support Community’s national education programs. This includes the development of education materials and programs for people impacted by cancer through CSC’s flagship education program, Frankly Speaking About Cancer, our website, www.cancersupportcommunity.org and other educational initiatives.
Education Manager
Manage multiple projects in education program development, content development and dissemination
Ensure education materials are up-to-date, accurate and accessible to cancer community
Collaborate with advocacy partners and healthcare experts for development of programs
Spearhead the Department’s efforts to increase publication distribution through numerous stakeholders including advocacy, health care professionals/organizations and community partners
Assist in the Department’s efforts (including program development and writing content) to expand its education programming for numerous audiences including youth, people who speak English as a second language, people who live in rural communities and others
Manage program data collection for selected projects, which includes workshops, publications (print and digital) and web
Network at community events and activities
Assist in proposal development and writing; submit proposals and grants online as needed
Represent CSC at external stakeholder meetings and professional conferences
Generate mid-year and annual reports
Manage administrative tasks, including contractual and cooperative agreements, payment processing, project expenses and other duties as assigned
Support fundraising efforts
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in social and behavioral sciences (e.g., Public Health, Social Work, Social Psychology, Community Organizing, or related health and human services fields, community health) a minimum of 2 years of project management experience.
Experience with community health education among minority and/or underserved local communities a plus
Ability to speak and write in Spanish a plus
Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to work independently and take a leading role on assigned projects.
Experience in community outreach, coalition building and advocacy
Highly motivated and directed, with attention to detail and ability to multi-task effectively
General administrative skills, including ease with Outlook, Microsoft Office (including Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Familiarity with use of SPSS a plus
