HEAF is a comprehensive supplemental education and youth development organization that works to help motivated students develop the intellectual curiosity, academic ability, social values and personal resiliency they need to ensure success in school, career and life.
HEAF is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to join our team as the Onward (College Success) Manager. This person will advance our mission to transforming the communities we serve into places where college readiness and college graduation are the norms. Candidates should have a comprehensive understanding of higher education, college outreach and support programs, financial aid (FASFA, scholarships, etc.) and career readiness. The Manager of Onward will be responsible for leading a program that embodies our Core Values – Achievement, Education, Innovation and Leadership. The Onward Manager reports directly to the Chief of Programs.
College Success Manger will directly provide customized support to HEAF high school seniors and our college students to ensure enrollment and graduation from in best-fit post-secondary institutions. This individual will have directly responsibility of meeting HEAF’s goal of 100% of high school seniors matriculating to 4-year post-secondary institutions and 90% of college students graduating from college within 6 years of enrollment.
Primary Responsibilities:
Managing the High School Onward Program
Work directly with our 12th Grade students to build strong, supportive relationships with them and their families, as they apply to colleges and prepare for the transition to college life
Directly support our 12th grade students, and their families, to ensure that they successfully transition to college and are on track to graduate w/in 6 years with acceptable levels of personal debt
Build and maintain relationships with support organizations and staff at colleges that our students attend in order to ensure ongoing academic success and student resilience
Supervise the Onward Coordinator and support staff in all elements of the Onward Program that pertain to 9th – 11th grade students
Managing Onward College Program
Lead college student advising work for all high school graduates
In collaboration with Chief of Programs, define way to classify different student needs and ensure, at minimum:
# 100% freshmen and sophomores get appropriate coaching per their risk level
# Students requiring deeper social-emotional coaching are referred to trusted partner and/or campus support
# Students are part of vibrant cohorts and connecting to all relevant campus resources
Build and maintain postsecondary partner database
Research and assist college students and alumni with placement in summer opportunities, internships and jobs
Engage HEAF alumni through events; prospect meetings; and integrated communications, including social media, email, and direct mail.
Maintain an accurate and complete alumni database records
Other duties as assigned by Chief of Programs and CEO
Job Qualifications:
First and foremost, the College Success Manager must embrace the HEAF vision of transforming low-income communities into places where college readiness and college graduation are the norms.
Additionally, candidates must posses the following qualifications:
Minimum 4-year college degree (Master’s Degree preferred)
Minimum 3-5 of experience working directly to support students to excel academically
Goal-oriented and strong commitment to meeting goals; dedication to helping students achieve their goal
of college matriculation & completion
Exceptional communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organization skills
Results-driven; commitment to utilizing data to take informed action
Computer skills: Microsoft Suite, Google platforms (Salesforce knowledge a plus)
