Organization Background:
Founded in 1992, After-School All-Stars is a national non-profit organization which provides free, daily afterschool programs to nearly 72,000 children in need on nearly 350 school sites in 15 chapters across the U.S. Offering 3 hours of daily programs that combine Academic, Enrichment, and Health and Fitness activities, ASAS is responding to America’s high school dropout, youth obesity, student empowerment and economic crises.
A Unique Opportunity:
The National Evaluation Coordinator will report to the National Research & Evaluation Manager and work with the national programs team to develop, support, and execute the ASAS Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) system. The National Evaluation Coordinator will focus on improving program quality and model fidelity by supporting pilot chapters in all aspects of CQI launch, including conducting program observations, providing technical assistance, and identifying areas of professional development support/targeted training. The National Evaluation Coordinator will also conduct miscellaneous evaluation and program duties. This position is ideal for a fast-learner looking to gain a wealth of non-profit evaluation experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead national evaluation and programs teams in designing, implementing, and training on the national CQI system
Conduct program observations, provide technical assistance and training to site and chapter-level staff
Work with National Research & Evaluation Manager and national program’s team to identify areas of targeted training and professional development
Support National Research & Evaluation Manager in assessing model fidelity and evaluation readiness
Support National Research & Evaluation Manager with other miscellaneous evaluation tasks, including data analysis, development of surveys, cleaning and management of student databases, identification of preliminary findings, evaluation report production, and establishment of district data agreements
Perform other duties as assigned
Travel is required
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
The National Evaluation Coordinator is expected to be experienced in the field of nonprofit fund development with demonstrated success in managing programs and cultivating individual donors, corporate sponsorships, and foundation grants. The NEC should embody ASAS’s core values: accountable, collaborative, transparent, proactive, and entrepreneurial.
Required
Bachelor’s degree in related field (e.g. education, social science, statistics) and one year of research, evaluation, and/or youth-development programs experience OR Master’s degree in related field (e.g. education, social science, statistics)
Strong written and oral communication skills, including comfort communicating evaluation findings to program staff
Proficient in Excel, including conducting descriptive analyses
Strong facilitation and public speaking skills, including large group presentations
Preferred
Proficient in SPSS or other data analysis software
Knowledge of Cityspan or related student-management system preferred
Experience providing staff professional development
Experience using evaluation for program implementation and improvement purposes
Experience administering surveys, focus groups, and/or research interviews
Experience in national youth development organization
Salary and Benefits:
Salary range is in the low $40,000s and commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the individual candidate. ASAS offers competitive benefits including, but not limited to, health, dental, and vision.
