The Neighborhood Charter School of Harlem was chartered by the New York State Education Department and opened in Central Harlem in August 2012 with kindergarten and first grade. During the summer of 2015 we will grow to fourth grade and add a grade each year thereafter until the school accommodates scholars in kindergarten through eighth grade. The school has an accomplished and committed Board, which includes its two founders as well as a Head of School. We are looking for experienced educators who are excited by the challenge of being part of a high achieving school and have the dedication and motivation to make it happen.

Our mission is to provide the children of Harlem with new educational opportunities though a rigorous, comprehensive K-8 program that cultivates the intellectual, social and emotional development of each child. NCSH provides a rich, challenging K-8 program that cultivates the intellectual, social and emotional development of each child. We are proud of our fully-inclusive program for high functioning children with autism spectrum disorders, which serves approximately 15% of our student body.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Operations Manager will assist with management of the daily operations of the school site and coordinate projects and site activities for students and families. The Operations Manager should be able to effectively communicate school policies, regulations and operational procedures to families. The Operations Assistant and Office Coordinator will report into the Operations Manager. The Director of Operations is seeking an organized, energetic and dedicated individual who is committed to urban education.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Help to manage the National School Breakfast program, National School Lunch program, and snack service; including sanitation standards and student lunch eligibility.
Perform basic Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions in the routine course of daily operations.
Receive all packages/mail and conduct verification that orders are complete. Distributes items to appropriate party.
Manage the fixed assets and inventory tracking system. Maintain a complete inventory of all school supplies and equipment.
Coordinates and supports parent/family education and community events, including availability of facilities and staff.
Purchase instructional, office and janitorial and maintenance supplies. Solicit and document competitive bids when necessary.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with vendors and contractors.
Assist the Director of Operations in preparing annually for the new school year launch.
Serve as the first point of reference for teacher and administrative staff technical support.
Work with the custodial team to ensure the building is cleaned and all necessary repairs are made in a timely manner.
Work with our after school provider to plan and implement enrichment activities, recreational activities, snack distribution, and behavioral management with students in the after school program.
QUALIFICATIONS
The following qualifications are required:
A bachelors degree
Proficiency in Spanish preferred
Highly detail-oriented
Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Access
Communicates well with others and demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with students, parents, colleagues and community members
Ability to communicate well and work productively with others, including school staff, parents, community members and DOE personnel
A willingness to do whatever it takes to ensure the school’s success
