Job Opening – Program Coordinator

The SmartDrive Foundation, a leading provider of defensive driving skill development for new teen drivers has an immediate opening for an experienced professional for the position of Program Coordinator.
Job Summary:
Working with the Executive Director (ED), the Program Coordinator (PC) plans, executes and evaluates all on-site programs and promotes and recruits students for the online programs. The PC participates in the organizational management and strategic planning activities as requested by the ED. The PC ensures adherence to all policies of the organization; ensures adherence to and updates all driver education rules and regulations, provides leadership to and directs and assists staff and volunteers with the operation and implementation of all SmartDrive programs.
Qualifications:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience or leadership in educational or community organizations and/or activities is required. Candidate must meet the minimum standards for Driver Education certification in the state of Delaware, including a valid driver’s license, an acceptable driving record as demonstrated by presentation of a copy of same, successfully passing a criminal background check and a drug scan. A teaching certificate and teaching experience is required, focus in Driver Education or health is preferred. The successful candidate will possess a working knowledge of current driver education and defensive driving training methods, priorities and requirements. He or she enjoys working with teens and adults, is safety oriented, self-directed, mission-driven, and has a deep awareness, understanding and concern for teen safety and behavioral issues.
Key Knowledge and Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills; detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills; self-directed and able to make decisions independently as the situation requires; proficiency in computer use in business and education including EXCEL with data entry skills, Microsoft Word, Power Point, and ability to communicate via e-mail, social media, Dropbox, etc.; ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all situations; willingness to travel to participating high schools, universities and other locations to recruit students and present programs for SmartDrive. Must be able to properly operate a towed trailer.
Major Responsibilities and Tasks:
Manage the SmartDrive program in schools, universities and community groups; provide training for SmartDrive staff and volunteers involved with program delivery; inform and update the program staff and volunteers on curriculum, driving and driver education regulations and licensing requirements; maintain and build relationships with current school liaisons and community partners and establish relationships with new schools and partners as approved by the Executive Director; maintain the program calendar and schedule all SmartDrive programs and events; schedule part-time and volunteer instructors and assistants for delivery of all SmartDrive programs and program related events; submit all time sheets for paid staff and volunteers; maintain a listing of participating schools, community organizations and students; ensure accurate collection of data and data entry as assigned. The PC must be a licensed driver with a clean driving record and must provide his or her own transportation.
