Organization Description
Tutors for All (T4A) bridges the achievement gap one student at a time. Through the creation of partnerships between colleges, schools and community agencies, we offer under-served Boston adolescents the systematic individualized instruction they need in order to thrive. Students in the T4A programs have shown dramatically improved MCAS scores and renewed and deeper confidence in their academic abilities. Schools hosting T4A programs have seen assessment results rise from below Boston averages to above state averages.
Job Summary
The Program Coordinator position is a part-time position (10 – 15 hours/ week) at one of T4A’s program locations. The Program Coordinator works directly under the Program Manager to support the success of the specified tutorial program by supporting students through parent engagement, tutor support, and student behavior management, as well as to help with the implementation of tutorial and administering of curriculum.
Duties and Expectations
Your primary responsibility will be to work with a Tutors for All Program Manager to:
Recruit and hire tutors from local Colleges and Universities Assist in implementing trainings and professional developments for tutors on student behavior management and engagement Support tutors in meeting the individual needs of students Hold students accountable to high standards of behavior and participation Hold tutors accountable to professional standards Observe tutors and provide feedback on engaging and managing students Assist in the publishing of progress reports twice a semester Help manage student behavior during tutorial as needed Assist in successful implementation of curriculum
Candidate Requirements
Passion for working with Boston youth Passion for coaching/professional development of young educators Strong leadership skills and experience Ability to manage many tasks simultaneously and attention to detail Ability to problem solve in a fast paced environment Adherence to strict professional standards as regards to conduct, dress, timeliness, etc. Eagerness to reflect on improve and performance
Schedule and Location
Schedule: Varies with site. The Coordinator will need to be on-site at all times when the program is running and will also some additional time preparing for the program at the program site and at Tutors for All’s central office.
Job Dates: Approx. September 14 – December 18, 2015, with opportunity to continue in the winter/spring.
