Program Manager – Literacy Bridge – Seattle, WA

The Program Manager will work closely with Literacy Bridge Program Director and Ghana Site Manager to execute programmatic partnerships with external organizations; ensure programs are meeting objectives and milestones; develop/manage systems for effective and efficient program implementation; develop strategies for programmatic improvements; and support a variety of monitoring, learning and evaluation (MLE) and content development efforts.

Key Projects

General Program Management: Manage all aspects of programmatic strategy, implementation, documentation, scale-up plans, new pilot project development, general problem solving, external stakeholder partnership building and reporting and developing pilots to test new approaches to increase efficiency or impact.

Workplan Development and Management: Develop a comprehensive workplan – to be used to manage multi-country program teams – that effectively plans for and tracks milestones, individual tactics and staffing to ensure successful achievement of program objectives; implement and manage this workplan to ensure deadlines are met and program improvements/changes are identified and addressed.

Updating and Engaging Leadership. Provide frequent high-level updates to Program Director and escalate issues to Program Director/necessary leadership.

Relationship Management: Be the point of contact for potential and existing partners; work with Ghana team to ensure all reporting and MLE needs are met. Develop proposals and budgets for new partnerships and lead process of signing contracts with new partners.

Budget Management: Work with Literacy Bridge accountant to track expenses and oversee program budgets throughout the life of each project.

MLE and Content Development: Work in collaboration with MLE and Content staff to ensure MLE planning/execution and content development are consistent with overall organizational strategy and meet quality standards.

Desired Skills & Experience

Program and/or project management experience, preferably within the global development sector. Experience in public health or agriculture education and/or behavior change communication programs a plus.

Ability to work in large multicultural teams. Fluency in English, spoken and written.

Strong skills in project planning, organization, interpersonal communication, writing,

research and external communication; attention to detail.

Ability to communicate with senior leadership in a concise and informative manner.

Work in fast-paced environment with little supervision; ability to manage and shift

multiple priorities and ensure nothing falls through the cracks.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to adapt to new technologies.

Plan for and document the individual tactics, timeframe and staff necessary to

achieve a goal/milestone.

Basic understanding of how metrics measure success of a particular objective.

Basic understanding of program budget tracking and projections.

• Experience in facilitating a cross-functional team, which may comprise senior leadership.

Location and Travel

This position is based in Seattle, Washington. Candidate must be available for regular early morning Skype calls with Ghana, which can be done from home. Position will require travel up to four times per year for 1-3 weeks at a time to Ghana’s Upper West Region and other remote, rural areas in low resource countries.
