The Black Teacher Collaborative (BTC) seeks to ensure that all Black children will have a challenging, affirming, and innovative learning environment staffed by a critical mass of Black educators who are equipped to maximize shared racial identity to push students’ academic growth and socio-emotional well being.

Black Teacher Collaborative provides an opportunity for educators to build the mindsets, skills, experience, and knowledge needed to actualize a new model for Black teacher effectiveness and impact. Ultimately, increased teacher impact will fuel the advancement of Black children, our families, and our communities.

THE ROLE
We are seeking an entrepreneurial and results-oriented individual to design, manage and execute program logistics across our six pilot sites. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who loves to create the playbook, not just execute within an existing structure. This person should be organized, detail-oriented, have strong written communications skills, enjoy cultivating relationships, and be able to thrive in a startup environment. The program manager will be responsible for creating the comprehensive logistics system needed to deliver the program, which includes projects such as creating and managing the program calendar, communicating with school sites and teachers, coordinating program logistics (site identification, setting up technology, assembling materials etc.) and ensuring all program components are flawlessly executed.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The program manager will report to the Senior Managing Director of Program & Design and is uniquely positioned to ensure participants have a positive experience with BTC. In order to do so, the manager will create an operational system that 1) efficiently manages logistics across all sites, 2) effectively communicates with principals, teachers, coaches and BTC staff 3) tracks all program milestones including professional development days, evaluations, etc.

Key responsibilities include:
Create and maintain a master program calendar
Plan and execute logistics for program activities, including securing rooms and setting-up technology
Lead the operations and communications work for the annual BTC Intensive
Support the CEO and/or Senior Managing Director of Program & Design in the identification, cultivation, recruitment, and onboarding of expansion sites
Own program communications with school site staff and the BTC team to ensure all parties are informed and aligned with program components
Prepare written communication to teachers, coaches, and principals in advance of monthly professional development days
Coordinate and support the work of the Program Design group
Produce regular reports and updates for the BTC CEO and board on program activities
Track the evaluation schedule and support with the administration of evaluative measures (surveys, focus groups etc.)
Create activities and opportunities that strengthen the cohort bond

REQUIREMENTS
Experience
3-5 years of full-time work experience
Prior operations or program management experience highly preferred
Teaching experience is a plus
Work Demands
Ability to work from home
Ability to travel between sites
Travel, 2-3 times per month
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
Skills
Passionate about addressing issues of educational inequity impacting Black children
Self-motivated and able to move the work forward without a lot of direction
Ability to multi-task and manage various work streams
Comfort with ambiguity
Highly organized and capable of creating strong operational processes
Strong customer service orientation
Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to address a diverse set of stakeholders
Strong project and program management skills
Education

Bachelor’s degree
