POSITION: The Literacy Lab is seeking a dynamic, organized, full-time Program Manager for the Missouri Reading Corps. This position is an excellent opportunity to help establish a nationally-recognized early literacy intervention program in the state of Missouri. The Program Manager is responsible for program management and oversight to ensure that the Reading Corps model is replicated and implemented with fidelity in order to make a measurable impact on the literacy skills of students in Kansas City. The Program Manager is responsible for building and maintaining strategic relationships leading to the long-term sustainability and success of the program.
ABOUT THE LITERACY LAB: The Literacy Lab is a fast-paced, Washington, DC-based non-profit organization whose mission is to provide low-income children with individualized reading instruction to improve their literacy skills, leading to greater success in school and increased opportunities in life. We partner with school districts to add capacity in high-need schools to close the literacy achievement gap for children before third grade. The Literacy Lab is launching the Missouri Reading Corps program in the Kansas City area in the 2015-16 school year.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The Program Manager, who is based in Kansas City and reports to the Program Director in Washington, DC, is responsible for the following:
Leading the implementation of the Missouri Reading Corps and ensuring fidelity to the Reading Corps model.
Managing 2 Master Coaches, 1 Program Associate, 25-30 full-time Missouri Reading Corps tutors.
Serving as an ambassador to build support for the Missouri Reading Corps with prospective funders and school and community partners.
Building and managing relationships with school district officials and individual school sites.
Recruiting and placing a diverse team of high-performing, full-time Reading Corps tutors to serve in Kansas City.
Ensuring that program is in accordance with all AmeriCorps grant requirements.
Collaborating with Literacy Lab staff to plan and organize a summer training institute and ongoing professional development for tutors and coaches.
Collecting and managing financial information to ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial and grant reports.

Outgoing personality; strong communication skills and comfortable engaging with a variety of audiences.
Bachelor’s Degree (at minimum)
