Project Coordinator – American Association of School Administrators – Alexandria, VA

AASA, The School Superintendents Association, is searching for an individual with knowledge/familiarity of school health issue to assist with day-to-day activities across funded project areas as well as department communications, including growing the social media presence of Children’s Programs.

Accountabilities:

Provides technical, logistical and administrative support for the planning, communications, and requirements of federally- and privately-funded grant programs.
Represents AASA in person, over the telephone and electronically to a wide variety of constituents.
Works closely with project directors, program funders, and other agencies and organizations to accomplish the projects’ scope of work.
Contributes to program functions and reports.
Works collaboratively with AASA departments and association staff on other activities, as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Specific Duties/Responsibilities:

Takes lead responsibility for:

Children’s Programs monthly newsletter
Liaison with AASA communications staff
Maintenance of web pages across all Children’s Programs Department initiatives
Liaise between AASA and Action for Healthy Kids
Outreach to AASA members, staff and stakeholders for dissemination of department resources and products via website, mailings, staff meetings, electronic newsletters, publications, social media, etc.

Assists project directors by:

Scheduling monthly technical assistance calls with school breakfast districts and mentors.
Participating in weekly national AASA and Children’s Defense Fund project staff conference calls on child health insurance.
Participating in monthly state conference calls with school districts on child health insurance.
Drafting articles about the school breakfast and health insurance work, including gathering stories.
Monitoring Action for Healthy Kids budget and accomplishing work-plan activities.
Reviewing analysis of school breakfast data Managing the AASA website and social media content related to all Children’s Department initiatives.
Tracking benchmark accomplishments of health insurance districts and payments made to them.
Contributing to annual reports.
Contributing to website content across all Children’s Programs Department initiatives.
Creating awareness and visibility across all Children’s Programs Department initiatives, both internally, and externally.

Qualifications:

Experience: Demonstrated experience successfully managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines. Knowledge and familiarity with school health issues preferred; program coordination and management skills a plus.
Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills a must. Highly developed organizational and management skills desirable. Must have skills in appropriate technology and social media for information processing and dissemination. Flexibility, creativity and the ability to work in teams are key to success in this position.
Education: College degree required or equivalent training and experience.
Classification: This position is supported by grant-funded agreements and is contingent upon satisfactory performance and continued funding. Regular; non-exempt.
