Job Description
The Research Analyst will serve on a team of researchers and will manage small projects, as well as assist senior researchers in evaluation activities. Initial projects will include those related to arts education, early literacy, early childhood, STEM, health education, after school programs, and more. The Research Analyst may assist in some work outside of education as well, including child welfare, youth development, and community development. This position will be based in our NYC office. The specific tasks for which the Research Analyst will be responsible include the following:
Managing small evaluation projects and assisting senior staff in the evaluation of larger projects, including:
Preparing literature reviews
Collecting, reviewing and synthesizing program documentation
Developing instruments such as questionnaires, interview protocols, and surveys
Conducting focus group interviews with students, staff and parents
Conducting observations of classroom instruction, professional development activities, parent workshops and meetings, and other school‐based events
Preparing qualitative and quantitative data for analyses
Conducting qualitative and quantitative analyses
Presenting data using graphic and tabular displays, including implementation of advanced data visualization techniques
Preparing of evaluation reports and grant proposals
Assisting with presentations of data to clients
Travel within NYC, New York State, and other states as required
Assisting with project development and promotion by participating in discussions on evaluation methodology, assisting with writing the evaluation section and other sections of grant proposals, and/or developing presentation proposals
Conducting general administrative tasks
Qualifications
Education and Prior Work Experience
Masters in targeted/ related field AND 2 years research/evaluation experienceORBachelors in related field and 3 years experience
Organization Skills
Ability to take initiative and independently manage several tasks and projects simultaneously with attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
Technical and Other Skills
Special consideration will be given to candidates with background/interest in arts education and/or early literacy
Experience with graphical representation of data and project results/data visualization Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Working‐level knowledge of statistics and SPSS
Familiarity with children, youth education, and family issues
Work Schedule
40 hours per week (Full‐Time position). Some light to moderate travel and overtime may be required, as well as background checks per the requirements of our Education and Human Services clients.
