School Programs Educator Positions – The Children’s Museum of Manhattan – New York, NY

The School Programs Department at the Children’s Museum of Manhattan is looking for dedicated educators to work with visiting school groups and outreach programs in neighborhoods throughout New York City. These renowned programs reach 60,000 students a year and create opportunities for a hands-on learning experience. Through interactive exhibitions and arts-integrated activities, students experience the process and joy of meaningful discovery.

Responsibilities:

School Programs Educators facilitate a variety of museum-based programs including guided visits for school groups (pre-k—6th grade), early childhood workshops, and weekly enrollment classes. On-site guided school group visits include an inquiry-based exhibit tour and hands-on workshop. School Programs Educators prepare and maintain supplies for programs and lessons, report directly to the School Programs Managers, and attend daily check-in meetings and occasional trainings.

Qualifications:

Undergraduate or graduate degree in early childhood, arts education, or museum education preferred. Students who are currently enrolled in related programs will be considered;
Experience working with children ages 2-12 years old required;
Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills;
Experience implementing curriculum in a variety of settings;
Experience working in museums a plus;
Strong background in art, science, social studies, or theater preferred;
Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus.

Hiring will take place on an on-going, rolling basis.

Salary: $14/hour

Hours: 9:30am-12:30pm, with possibility of adding more; two-three days per week preferred.
