Position Description:
Associate Faculty members work as part of the grade level teaching team. They provide teaching support for both classes at the grade level. Associate Faculty members are responsible for teaching part of the math curriculum, assessing students in reading and math using school-wide assessments, tracking student progress and differentiating student instruction to support individual learning profiles. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Subbing for lead classroom teacher
Planning and implementing instruction for students in whole class and small groups
Supporting students
individually
Collaborating with the grade level team to plan, create, and prepare student lessons and learning materials
Managing students in class and outdoors during recess, lunch, field trips, overnight learning experiences, and student dismissal.
Integrating differentiation strategies into the classroom to support diverse student learning needs.
Participating in the curriculum mapping project
Attending faculty meetings, evening school-wide special events and participating in staff committees.
Communicating with families about students
Proctoring accommodation groups for standardized assessments
Driving a school mini bus or van on field trips
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and a teaching certificate
Experience working with children at the elementary level
Knowledge of current best teaching practices
Knowledge and experience with effective classroom management strategies
Experience differentiating instruction for different learners
Experience and background with teaching social/emotional learning to elementary students
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Flexibility, ability to be a self starter, and a willingness to learn
