Center for Inspired Teaching, a Washington, DC based nonprofit education organization, is seeking a Teacher Leadership intern to support the summer institute for our BLISS and SCALE programs.
BLISS: Building Literacy in the Social Studies and SCALE: Science Curriculum Advancement through Literacy Enhancement are Inspired Teaching partnerships with DCPS. The Teacher Leadership intern will help coordinate the successful implementation of summer training for Teacher Leaders in Washington, DC.
Interns are key members of Center for Inspired Teaching and this internship provides an abundance of opportunities for learning-by-doing. The Teacher Leadership intern will interface with teachers, school leaders, community partners, and other education stakeholders. Interns work with a team of professionals experienced in education, successful program implementation, communication, development, research, and providing teachers with the skills that will help them succeed in their work with K-12 students.
Interns serve as a logistical and programmatic support for Inspired Teaching. Responsibilities may include:
Communicating with Inspired Teaching staff and providing support for Teacher Leaders involved in the BLISS and SCALE initiatives.
Managing materials and supplies to ensure a successful summer institute.
Supporting the facilitation of Teacher Leader training workshops.
Developing and maintaining files for BLISS and SCALE Teacher Leaders
Providing the development and research departments with accurate and up to date programmatic data on Teacher Leader participants.
Researching and supporting the implementation of innovative professional development tools and strategies.
Providing general administrative support to the organization.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to juggle and prioritize many tasks and responsibilities at one time.
Interest in and commitment to education.
Self-motivated, with a strong capacity for independent work with a great attention to detail.
Possess the ability to set and meet his/her own deadlines.
Comfortable acting quickly when presented with unexpected tasks.
Knowledge and comfort with Microsoft Office suite.
