The Special Music School, a public school for musically gifted students that spans grades K-11, currently has a third grade classroom teacher position.

Job responsibilities include:

Create instructional resources for use in the classroom.

Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities

Create positive educational climate for students to learn in, and colleagues to grow.

Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.

Continually develop pedagogy from reflective practices and work with colleagues.

Use formative and summative assessment measures throughout curriculum units to inform daily lessons.

Grade papers and perform other administrative duties as needed.

Continue to read and stay abreast of current topics in education.

Utilize various curriculum resources.

Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.

Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.

Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.

Observe and evaluate student’s performance.

Candidates must posses two years of satisfactory rating and be certified by the State of New York.
