The training program coordinator oversees all aspects of Agenda for Children’s early care and education training program, including scheduling trainings, evaluating trainings and supervising program assistants. The program provides group trainings to early childhood teachers and program leaders in child care centers, schools, family child care homes and Head Start programs. The coordinator is responsible for developing training modules, scheduling trainings, evaluating the quality of trainings and overseeing program staff. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, deep knowledge of early childhood education and experience with adult education.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate trainings for early childhood educators throughout 16 parishes in Southeast Louisiana, to include scheduling trainers, securing locations and determining workshop offerings
Develop curriculum with trainers and other staff
Supervise program assistants (who are responsible for data entry, assisting participants in registration, and preparing materials for trainings)
Manage program budget
Conduct training workshops as needed
Compile monthly reports and annual reports to comply with Department of Education funding requirements
Other duties as requested
REQUIREMENTS:
Degree or certification in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field with three years experience working in a licensed early learning program setting; experience in working with adults as learners; good verbal and written communication skills
Eligible for Pathways Trainer Certification (see http://pathways.nsula.edu/trainer-registry for more information)
Ability to manage own time, work without direct supervision and contribute to team atmosphere
Strong oral and written communication skills
Active listening, problem solving and interpersonal skills
Ability to develop trusting relationships with early learning program personnel
Ability to work with diverse populations
Ability to conduct training sessions for adults on the care of young children for groups of up to 30 participants during weekdays, weeknights and weekends
Proficient in the use of computer technology and software
Knowledge of CLASS and Teaching Strategies GOLD is preferred
Special Working Requirements:
Must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to arrange own transportation to conduct business within the service delivery area
No substantiation or criminal conviction of child abuse or neglect
Flexible schedule, including some evening and weekend work
Must be able to operate office supplies and equipment.
