Volunteer Teaching Assistant – Anjali House

DESCRIPTION
Anjali House is an educational children’s NGO based in Siem Reap, Cambodia. We provide 120 students with free healthcare, food, clean drinking water and family support in addition to our free daily English classes. For further information on our programmes, please visit www.anjali-house.com.

Anjali House currently has four classes. Three of those classes adhere to the standard schedule which is 50 minutes English, 50 minutes workshop and 50 minutes general studies. The class is primarily taught by our Khmer teachers, however in the “50 minutes workshop” session, the volunteer is responsible for creating an art/dance/drama/fun session for the students. The teacher will be on hand for assistance with translation or to be involved. The students all attend public school also so the classes switch at lunchtime. So essentially, you have 2 different sets of students per day.

The morning session runs from 8.15am-11.15am and the afternoon session runs from 1.15pm-4.15pm. Volunteers then just have to prepare ONE workshop per day which will be repeated for both classes. The fourth class follows a different structure and aims to provide life skills to the older students of Anjali House.

Responsibilities:
Work alongside the Khmer teacher to assist with daily English classes
Plan and deliver 1x 50 minute creative workshop daily for the class
Submit lesson plans for daily workshops
Lunchtime supervision of all students
Assist with development of teaching resources
