The Opportunity

Castlemont Community Transformation Schools seeks an experienced, innovative, high-energy Youth Leadership Facilitator to uphold the mission and values of CCTS and contribute to our goal that every student will thrive academically and develop the capacity to successfully compete in the local and global economy, regardless of their previous preparation and background.

The Youth Leadership Facilitator will work with middle school students in the Castlemont Community Transformation Schools network to provide instruction within the school day setting. Facilitator will use YELL curriculum in combination with service learning curriculum to create lessons. Facilitator will also support online teacher for one period per day of enrichment.

The YL Facilitator will work closely with Principal to develop opportunities for computer based personal learning and small group support. The program integrates the best research from social emotional learning, where students learn skills of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, personal accountability, responsibility and decision making and overlays them with the real word application both live and through technology.

The YL Facilitator will lead up to 8 hours of programming with 3 groups of fifteen (15) 5th and 6th grade students. The day will include release time for lesson planning, attendance, student surveys, and monthly reports. Facilitator will be responsible for working with school staff to collect grades, attendance, and disciplinary actions of students in the program and report findings.

Facilitator will attend Professional development training, staff meetings and participate in classroom observations.

This position will provide the opportunity to deepen your experience with youth development and service learning. The YL Facilitator will work directly with students, convening and facilitating meetings while also working with them to monitor overall academic progress. The candidate is expected to build relationships of trust with students and to develop the students into leaders capable of addressing personal, school and community needs.

Success will be measured by feedback from students, teachers, school staff, and the creation of a well-documented process.

School Year Outcomes and Indicators:

Students will develop leadership skill and understanding of community assets and needs. They will experience personal growth and be able to apply their new skills and strategies in academic courses and personal situations.

– Other Qualifications: -Facilitator must utilize own transportation for field work (with mileage expense reimbursement). – -Facilitator must submit a copy of their driver’s license and DMV record, and they must have a clean driving record. -Facilitators must submit results from s TB test and place fingerprints on record through Live Scan. -Facilitators will be required to show proof of citizenship, permanent residency in the US or authorization to work in the US when you begin work.
