Global Potential (GP) is an innovative local & international youth development organization that empowers youth to transform themselves into actors for good in their own communities and communities around the world. GP is headquartered in NYC with a chapter office in Boston. Since our founding in 2007, 100% of our youth Fellows have graduated from high school, 87% entered college and a growing number enter graduate school. Youth-driven community action projects result in award-winning documentary films, advocacy and service initiatives, and solidarity projects with rural villages in Haiti, Dominican Republic, and Nicaragua. GP youth are ethnically and nationally diverse and hail from our cities’ most underserved communities.
The CDO Position
The CDO will serve as a member of Global Potential’s Executive Team while leading the organization’s fund development, relationship development and communications efforts. The CDO will have overall responsibility for leading a team of volunteers in carrying out Global Potential’s fundraising strategies to reach revenue goals.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission and values of Global Potential and should have substantial expertise in all areas of responsibility.
Responsibilities & Roles
Create a comprehensive Development Plan that includes both broad strategies to accomplish fundraising goals and micro and macro level systems and procedures for implementation
Lead all of Global Potential’s fund development activities, including day-to-day development operations
Partner with Global Potential’s Board of Trustees to build relationships with their networks, to secure resources for Global Potential
Supervise and manage volunteer development team
Cultivate and steward individual and corporate major gift prospects and donors
Create strategy for fundraising events and manage execution of event plans, which will include follow up with event sponsors and potential new donors
Oversee the organization’s efforts to solicit competitive public and private grants
Ensure compliance with all regulations regarding accountability and sound fiscal/fundraising practices
Work closely with Marking and Communications Team
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree required; related Master’s Degree preferred
7-10 years of experience as a fundraising professional; including 5 years as a non-profit manager
High-level development/fundraising skills including how to cultivate and steward major gift prospects, research and write grant proposals and build relationships with institutional and governmental funders
Strong understanding of planning and managing fundraising special events
Professional fundraising training and certification (Indiana School/AFP/INM/etc.) a plus
Experience in youth-friendly environment (including direct service work) preferred
Basic knowledge of non-profit environment in New York City
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, database and internet applications
Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Excellent social, interpersonal, written communication and public speaking skills
Ability to demonstrate strong leadership while being a flexible, team-oriented individual
