The Mid-Atlantic Equity Consortium, Inc. (MAEC) is a private, non-profit with over 20 years of success linking educators, families, communities, and students to increase cross-cultural understanding, engagement and social capital to improve student achievement and further school reform. MAEC seeks to promote excellence and equity in education to achieve social justice. MAEC seeks an intern that will be responsible for providing support to staff in the following areas:
Areas of Work
Research
Support program staff in collecting data for tools, resources and publications.
Identify promising practices in education to highlight in publications, workshops and school-based and district-wide change initiatives.
Website Development
Support the Director of Communications in gathering content for the website.
Event Planning Support
Support Lead Conference Coordinator with all aspects of event planning and execution.
Social Media
Increase the social media traffic on our Twitter and FaceBook platforms.
Please note: An intern may be required to perform a combination of the above roles depending on their skill sets, interests and availability.
Requirements:
Position requires an extremely organized, highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, and self-confident individual who can work effectively and independently.
Candidates should have strong writing, research, and communication skills.
Experience using MS Office. Familiarity with Adobe creative suite is a plus.
An understanding of the nonprofit sector and a commitment to the mission and goals of MAEC.
Ability to work at least 10-15 hours per week.
