The Tech is looking for an experienced development professional to add to a high performing development team. This individual will be responsible for our fundraising efforts primarily from individual donors.
The ideal candidate will have a can do attitude, great spirit and will be numbers driven. They will be a strong team player and an experienced relationship builder. They will have a passion for education and great respect and understanding for The Tech’s role in inspiring innovators and serving the community.
The Special Projects Director is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Vice President for Development. This position is primarily responsible for creating successful individual fundraising strategies and their implementation. The Special Projects Director will manage the Major Gift Officer. Together the team will personally cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of individual donors and prospects. They will drive Annual Fund Solicitation, Title 1 Field Trip fundraising and Girls and Tech funding. They will also work with the Vice President of Development to research, cultivate and solicit campaign donors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Most importantly, this individual will expand our current individual fundraising efforts.
Manage the Major Gift Officer and their fundraising goals.
Focus on face to face meetings and new donor acquisition.
Develop and execute a comprehensive plan to create and implement strategies for prospecting, cultivating, and stewarding individual donors to ensure the highest engagement and participation rate while increasing annual gift giving levels.
Be knowledgeable of The Tech’s mission, exhibits, programs and long-range plans and stay current with the functioning of the entire institution in order to effectively communicate The Tech’s programs and vision.
Engage, motivate and align volunteer leadership with prospects. Track and follow up with progress and provide needed support.
Maintain and oversee the credibility of accurate and accessible database records and donor files for individual donors and prospects.
Track moves management for each donor.
Create and implement fundraising strategy for raising new funds for Title 1 Field Trips and Girls and Tech programs.
In partnership with education department, recruit and staff a committee for Girls and Tech.
Manage a portfolio of donors to research, cultivate and solicit for the Capital Campaign.
Work closely with Tech Awards Sponsorship Director to identify and assist in soliciting individual table supporters. Help with table seating, audience development, and day of event giving.
Work closely with Corporate Relations Director to solicit individuals to support The Tech Challenge.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
Five or more years of progressive fundraising experience that led to a management role.
Experience managing and mentoring other fundraising professionals.
A great relationship builder.
Extensive knowledge of personal cultivation and solicitations with demonstrated success in obtaining multiple gifts up to the $100,000 level.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including writing, with the ability to present to potential and current donors and volunteers.
Successful experience in developing plans, managing budgets and achieving goals on schedule.
Experience juggling Annual Fundraising with Campaign fundraising.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to track and follow-up with multiple, simultaneous projects.
Strong belief in and the ability to inspire others regarding The Tech’s Mission and programs.
Ability to thrive in a fast paced in environment and to adapt quickly to any needed direction changes.
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
