1. Organizing and Outreach (40%)
Analyze policy, help select campaign issues, plan and execute campaign strategies and tactics
Organize public events, rallies and demonstrations
Represent Real Change at community meetings and events
Create formal partnerships with nonprofit, faith, public and private organizations and community allies; build coalitions and collaborate with local and regional partners on issue-based campaigns
Design engagement opportunities for vendors, volunteers, staff, board, and community members
Support leadership development and empowerment of low-income and homeless vendors through facilitation of ongoing engagement, training and public speaking
Direct logistics and coordinate volunteer involvement at public events, rallies and demonstrations
Coordinate legislative advocacy work and homeless voter registration efforts
2. Program Management and Development (30%)
Hire, train, and supervise program staff, interns, volunteers and vendor leaders; actively support employee growth and development and conduct evaluations
Manage Vendor Internship Program; recruit and hire interns, provide training, professional development, and skills-building coaching, manage internship stipend payments
Plan and coordinate public education programs and events
3. Administration (15%)
Create and manage department budget and strategic planning goals
Write program reports and provide monthly updates to staff and Board of Directors; write regular debriefs, take action alerts, and assist with writing fundraising appeals, as needed.
Track Real Change’s staff time and expenditures related to lobbying
Negotiate advertising trade agreements for event and program sponsorships and campaign endorsements with ally organizations; work with Photo and Art Director to implement agreements and design ads according to newspaper layout specifications
Track participation and meeting attendance, manage member database and contact lists
4. Communications (15%)
Manage daily program communications and engagement on social media platforms
Design, produce and manage multimedia storytelling and interview content; facilitate partnerships with volunteers and partner organizations to highlight voices of homeless/low-income vendors
Design outreach materials, fliers, posters to engage vendors and community members; work with Photo and Art Director as needed
Assist in responding to media requests and speaking to media; assist in coordinating press conferences and media opportunities
Qualifications:
4 years’ leadership experience in advocacy and/or community organizing on issue campaigns
2 years’ experience in program coordination and development including experience supervising staff, interns, and volunteers
Demonstrated ability to build community relationships, alliances and coalitions
Social media experience
Demonstrated commitment to economic, social and racial justice
