Aftercare Support Consultant – CASA for Children of DC – Washngton, DC

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Aftercare Support Consultant is an independent contractor with CASA for Children of DC and reports to the Manager for Program Support. The Consultant’s primary responsibility is coaching and supervising volunteers to ensure for effective case management services for youth that have recently aged out of the District’s child welfare system. In addition and alternatively as referrals require, the Consultant will facilitate the re-engagement of disconnected youth. The Consultant works directly with the DC Superior Court, CFSA and other private agencies to provide and support the work of CASA volunteers as they guide young people after they exit the child welfare system.

Job Specifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in social work, law or related field (Master’s preferred) and experience in volunteer and/or case management (juvenile and/or child welfare systems, preferred);

Excellent written communication skills for correspondence with volunteers, case team members, and CASA DC staff;

Excellent oral communication skills for interaction with volunteers, youth, program stakeholders, and CASA DC staff; excellent presentation skills for conducting initial & in-service CASA trainings;

Excellent organizational skills for keeping accurate, confidential and up-to-date case files for all volunteers and children;

Excellent interpersonal skills for developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders at the DC Superior Court- Family Court, with other service providers, with families, with volunteers and with CASA youth;

Professional experience with Microsoft Office programs, especially Word and Excel.

Primary Duties:

Supervise and coach volunteers assigned to work with Aftercare program.

Engage and support professionals and community based partners that will assist in providing resources (housing, educational, and vocational) for youth

Manage all cases confidentially

Re-Engage and counsel disconnected youth

Maintain accurate and confidential paper and electronic case files; provide weekly and monthly program updates to staff and supervisors
