AmeriCorp Vista Development Associate – 826NYC – Brooklyn, NY

The Development Associate will work with the Executive Director and Development Associate to organize member events to attract and retain donors, conduct donor outreach in communities where we have programming or plan to establish programming, research and assist in the application of expansion grants, and assist in the creation and execution of fundraisers.

Reports to: Executive Director

Hours: Monday-Friday 9:30-5:30

Responsibilities

Work with development department to conceive of three events for League of SuperHumans members.
Manage guest list and assist with promotion of the events.
Create templates for member events and ensure that new member recruitment is built into evening.
Research opportunities for visitors to the Superhero Supply Co. to learn more about our work and how they can support it.
Assist with the creation of an open-house once per semester.
Work with Volunteer Associate on building relationships in Williamsburg and begin research into East Harlem.
Research a diverse range of foundations that would be interested in supporting the development of a Writer’s Room in East Harlem.
Work with Executive Director to secure meetings with as many prospects as possible.
Work with development team to create a fundraiser strategy to ensure 826NYC meets its goals.
Assist with securing talent, space, and vendors.
Research out to potential corporate sponsors to help underwrite the events.

Required Qualifications

Strong writing skills
Comfortable speaking with both vendors and customers
Ability to work well with a team
Proficient with computer applications (MSWord, Excel, etc.)
Strong work ethic, a collaborative spirit, a self-starter
Commitment to the mission of 826NYC

This position is an AmeriCorps VISTA position, administered by the Points of Light Foundation. A stipend is provided by the Corporation for National and Community Service.
