POSITION SUMMARY
Manages internal communications, logistics, consultants, finances, administrative functions, and member organizations, and the leadership institute for the BSS coalition. Develops research, writing, communications and coordination activities for BSS. Manages funding proposals, report development, public presentations, and works with Liberty Hill staff to support communications and development efforts related to BSS.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Primary areas of responsibility and tasks that may typically be assigned include but are not limited to:
FIELD MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
With coalition and consultants, develops and manages work plan and timeline for supporting the coalition to implement an effective, coordinated community organizing and coalition-building strategy;
Plans and coordinates regular meetings of the coalition, the consultants, the youth, and other subcommittees and groupings, including meeting scheduling, agenda preparation, minutes and implementation/follow-up;
Researches, recommends and manages outreach to key ally organizations, elected officials, and other prospective supporters to secure endorsements; organizes delegations; prepares materials and secures letters of endorsement;
Coordinates BSS events and mobilizations including scheduling event spaces, managing logistics, overseeing invitations and RSVPs, and event implementation and follow-up;
Develops foundation reports, proposals and outreach;
Develops consultant contracts and invoices;
Informs and coordinates with Liberty Hill staff about BSS activities;
Maintains hard copy and electronic management files;
Provides CEO with regular reports on BSS;
Engages in special projects as assigned.
LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE MANAGEMENT
In coordination with consultants, coalition members, and liberty hill staff, develops curriculum for a BSS leadership institute track for youth and track for member organizations;
Develops and manages the implementation of the Leadership Institute, including managing logistics, hiring and managing consultants, recruiting and supporting youth, leading trainings, evaluating and reporting on results.
GENERAL
Conducts ongoing research on economic and racial justice issues affecting boys and men of color and relevant public policy issues, and provides updates as needed to staff, coalition, and other stakeholders.
Manages a grants portfolio for the Fund for Change program.
GRANTMAKING & TRAINING
Assist the Program Department in outreach, landscape analysis, strategy development, assessing organizations, leading Community Funding Board (CFB) teams, as assigned.
Assist the Program Department in developing and leading training programs for grantees, as assigned.
EXTERNAL RELATIONS
Work with Development Department & CEO to develop and maintain relationships with funders and donors, as assigned.
Research and draft funding requests, budgets, and reports, as assigned.
Participate in funder networks, public meetings, conferences, convenings, affinity groups, donor meetings and other external events, as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education, training and experience) required. Master’s degree in Public Health, Public Policy, Urban Planning or related field from an accredited college or university preferred.
One to three years’ experience in community education or organizing. 5+ years preferred.
Computer proficiency in Windows operating system and MS Office software including Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Access. Ability to operate Internet applications and email as well as external vendors’ and proprietary software programs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Manual dexterity for operating a computer keyboard, printer, facsimile machine, photocopier, calculator and/or ten-key adding machine.
Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
Ability to drive own automobile for attendance at meetings and other functions.
Ability to sit at a desk or conference table for extended periods of time within an office environment.
