CLRC Intake Coordinator – Disability Rights Legal Center – Los Angeles, CA

The Cancer Legal Resource Center (CLRC) is a program within the Disability Rights Legal Center (DRLC) whose mission is to provide information, referrals, education, and advocacy to persons with cancer. The program addresses legal issues that pertain to all forms of cancer for any individual. In 2015, the center responded to over 2000 individual callers and internet inquiries (intakes), and thousands more through its webinars, conference and public event presentations, and distribution of specially prepared printed materials in healthcare centers. Over 75% of the intakes were for persons living below the federal poverty line and 90% of all callers reside in California.

Responsibilities:

The Intake Coordinator position is a full time position responsible for coordinating the intake operations of CLRC’s Telephone Assistance Line, website, and outreach events. The Intake Coordinator reports to the CLRC Supervising Attorney. Responsibilities include:

Core Functions

Conduct intakes with callers to the CLRC’s Telephone Assistance Line, provide appropriate information, education, resources, and referrals in English and Spanish;
Assist in database operations, including data entry, importing online intakes to the database, and running statistical reports;
Coordinate CLRC education and outreach events, including scheduling, gathering materials, and collecting follow-up statistics;
Manage the intake database for the CLRC’s Telephone Assistance Line, including coordinating with technology consultants to ensure that the database meets the needs of the program, designing layouts, and updating procedures;
Manage the timely reporting of grant deliverables, including identifying events that apply to the grant requirements, collecting statistics, and communicating with staff on grant progress.

Other Duties

Translate and update CLRC materials as directed by the CLRC Supervising Attorney;
Conduct research to support CLRC operations and programmatic goals;
Work with students, volunteers and supervise volunteer assignments;
Provide administrative and clerical support to the Supervising Attorney and staff of CLRC, including filing, copying, faxing, scanning, sending correspondence, calendaring, and entering new contacts and the coordination of these tasks;
Monitor CLRC general email account, provide customer service, and respond to event and material requests;
Manage social media accounts, including searching for content, coordinating with staff to add posts, and surveying comments from followers;
Assist CLRC and Communications staff to calendar, compile content, and send periodic electronic announcements such as newsletters, webinars and event reminders;
Update website content;
Maintain the CLRC Professional Panel database, including sending correspondence, and checking for complaints on state bar associations;
Other duties as assigned to further the mission of the DRLC.

Note: Some travel may be required, primarily within Southern California.

Necessary Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
Bilingual Spanish/English
Exceptionally well organized, conscientious, self-motivated, solution oriented, with good analytical skills.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, work independently, and thrive in fast-paced environment.
Strong knowledge of Windows Office suite, and Adobe Acrobat.
Experience with complex database or intake system such as Time Matters.
Experience or familiarity with people with cancer or other disabilities desired.
Access to transportation and a valid California ID.

DRLC offers a flexible work environment that allows for the opportunity to work remotely part of the time. Annual salary range for Intake Coordinator position is $30,000 – $35,000 DOE. DRLC offers a benefit package to full-time employees that includes health insurance, vacation and sick time, a holiday schedule, and eligibility to a managed retirement savings (401k) plan.
