East LA Community Corporation is seeking an experienced, driven, and talented Community Organizer. The organizer will work with the Director of Community Organizing to lead, implement, and manage a grassroots base building and leadership development program within ELACC’s Boyle Heights membership base. This position is responsible for working directly with membership to build their capacity as neighborhood leaders on policy inssues related to equitable transit-oriented development, gentrification, and displacement on the Eastside of Los Angeles.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Help implement and provide strategic direction for work related to ELACC’s metro campaign
Execute grassroots base building of new members, and capacity/skill-building of existing membership
Conduct one-on-one meetings, personal visits, and employ leadership development-based organizing
Work with membership to create key conditions for neighborhood change
Implement mobilization programs, town halls, and other engagement strategies
Day to Day work in the field
QUALIFICATIONS:
At least 4 years of experience working with community based organizing ( community, labor, political advocacy-preferred)
Ability to plan, develop, and implement educationals and trainings using popular education techniques
Bilingual in English and Spanish (verbal/written)required
Team-player with superior interpersonal and collaboration skills
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Experience engaging , leading and motivating others
Experience with base building, one-on-ones, personal visits, town halls, leadership development, and mobilization
Ability to multi-task, manage multiple responsibilities, and prioritize tasks
Demonstrate ability to follow-through on assignments
Self-starter who is comfortable working remotely, independently, and can complete work objectives on schedule
Ability to report work product accurately using metrics, written and visual mediums
Knowledge of campaign and organizing tools and technology
Genuine interest and passion for ELACC issues and priorities
*Responsibilities will require work on evenings and weekends*
This is a 2 year project-based position with the possibility of extension.
