The Development Associate has primary responsibility for supporting the agency’s event fundraisers, capital campaigns and assisting with external communication & direct mail, gift processing, and volunteer coordination. Working with the Corporate Gifts and Events Manager, the Development Associate also ensures accuracy of the agency’s donor files and databases.
Key responsibilities include:
Support of the development team in managing the donor portfolio through all aspects of the giving cycle, including prospect research, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
Logistics and planning support to the Corporate Gifts and Events Manager for cultivation and stewardship events such as hospitality events, receptions, and VIP gatherings.
Timely processing of donations and preparation of acknowledgement letters and other correspondence with agency’s donors and contributors.
Maintainance of confidential gift records, donor files, gift processing, and maintenance of the donor database system; producing detailed reports that reflect donor activity and progress towards goals.
Production and mailing of donor newsletter, annual report, solicitation letters and other direct mail pieces.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years experience with event logistics support, or three years administrative support in a nonprofit development office. Hands-on knowledge of Raiser’s Edge 7. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work independently with little supervision. Must be organized, detailed, resourceful, and demonstrate initiative in solving problems. Outstanding interpersonal skills required. MS Office skills required, especially facility with Word and Excel.
