The Director of Community Engagement is a high energy multi-tasker with dynamic leadership ability who builds coalitions and partnerships and is able to delegate and empower team members while keeping control of the many balls in the air. This position has responsibility for outreach functions including volunteer engagement, faith community partnerships and community mobilization that lead to helping the organization achieve its fundraising goals. The position will be responsible for developing the strategic plan around how to accomplish broader community awareness and engagement, as well as execution on those strategies. Position requires previous leadership in community engagement, marketing and communications, strong public speaking and writing skills, and the ability to manage staff and volunteers.
The position’s goal is to have Habitat for Humanity Seattle-King County (HfHSKC) be the donor/volunteer experience of choice in the community. This position’s success should ultimately result in donors of time and/or funds, with a deeper engagement and commitment to the holistic nature of HfHSKC’s mission.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages the creation of an overall strategic plan for community engagement, including raising awareness about the organization and development of engagement pathways for individuals and organizations.
Manages the execution of all community engagement strategies
Set goals and metrics to ensure effective implementation of strategies
Monitors the success of community engagement strategies and makes course corrections in order to meet the established goals
Brings new and exciting ideas to the organization, and is capable of listening to insight from team members and testing new initiatives
Represents HFHSKC in community initiatives and events that support our brand goals/strategies and engage key constituents
Assess, organize and optimize donors of time and funds to be engaged with HfHSKC programs, and recognized for their contributions.
Ensure that the volunteer and donor experience is positive and effective,
Expand programs into new opportunities, and ensure that donors of time and gifts feel valued and valuable in their relationship to HfHSKC.
REQUIREMENTS
The candidate will be an energetic individual with initiative, imagination, strong organizational, strategic and interpersonal skills, and have experience and demonstrated success at working with donors and volunteers, or related audiences.
Excellent oral and written communications skills and the ability to plan, build, and internally and externally market an entrepreneurial program are required.
Demonstrate enthusiasm and the ability to collaborate with staff and volunteers, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
The individual must possess a sense of humor, integrity and the talent to create and enhance team-based success.
Master’s Degree preferred
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in non-profit management.
Demonstrated experience working with community leadership.
Some travel required.
