Dream Summer Coordinator – UCLA Labor Center – Los Angeles, CA

Job Summary

The Dream Summer Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Dream Resource Center’s Dream Summer internship program. The coordinator leads the recruitment, training, and ongoing mentorship of Dream Summer participants and promotes Dream Summer to diverse stakeholders. The coordinator provides leadership and guidance to Dream Summer staff and supports the overall Labor Center’s and the Dream Resource Center’s organizational development and strategic goals. The coordinator conducts fund-raising for Dream Summer, monitors existing grant deliverables and budgets, and prepares grant reports.

The Dream Summer Coordinator is part of the larger Dream Resource Center (DRC) team and participates in the coordination and implementation of other DRC activities.

Type of Supervision Received

Incumbent should be able to prioritize multiple competing tasks and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision. The Coordinator supervises the Logistics Coordinator, including assigning work and evaluation.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Proven strong organizational skills to a) work independently with minimal supervision, b) determine workload priorities and tasks to complete work in a timely manner, and c) identify and resolve problems.
Interpersonal skills to interact sensitively and to establish and maintain positive relationships with university administrators, colleagues, students, community members, workers, and outside organization officials and staff from diverse social, cultural, and educational backgrounds.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative team working relationships with other staff, the university, and the community.
Strong communication skills, including writing, public speaking, and social media experience.
Knowledge of and experience with immigrant youth issues.
Knowledge of and experience with participatory education techniques.
Fluent bilingual in English and another language, including oral interpretation and written translation.
Proven experience with managing logistics for large, long-term events.
Bachelor’s degree in related subject.
