Executive Director, Fair Housing Council of Oregon – Kathy Kniep Consulting – Portland, OR

Mission/Organization:

The Fair Housing Council of Oregon (FHCO) is a statewide civil rights organization whose mission is to eliminate housing discrimination through access to enforcement and education. We promote equal access to housing by providing education, outreach, technical assistance, and enforcement opportunities specifically related to federal, state, and local fair housing laws. This 25-year-old, 501(c)3 public benefit organization is based in Portland, Oregon, and is the only private fair housing organization in the state. FHCO is rather unique in that it emphasizes education and outreach as much as enforcement. In addition to providing information and referral, advocacy, and investigation services, FHCO provides complainants with assistance in navigating fair housing legal and administrative processes. The organization also provides technical assistance to public sector officials. FHCO has a budget of $865,000 and 12 staff members.

The Opportunity:

As executive director of the Fair Housing Council of Oregon, you will lead a team of highly dedicated fair housing advocates working to realize a vision of an Oregon free of housing discrimination. You will be a champion and lead advocate for fair housing at a time when housing issues are at the forefront in our state. Your exceptional leadership, nonprofit management, and fundraising skills will ensure that FHCO effectively fulfills its mission, working collaboratively both within the organization and in a wide variety of Oregon communities. In addition to your fair housing knowledge, your community relations, equity and inclusion, team building, and financial management skills will strengthen FHCO’s health and sustainability. The board and staff will appreciate your approachability, passion for our work, and sense of humor.
