The New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU) is one of the nation’s leading advocates on behalf of constitutional rights and liberties. Founded in 1951, as the New York affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union, the NYCLU is a not-for-profit, nonpartisan organization with 48,000 members statewide.
NYCLU is a unique organization, seeking a unique individual for a unique position.
For the first time, NYCLU is establishing a dedicated human resources (HR) office. We need an experienced professional to assist us in this transition. If you are a seasoned professional, experienced in assisting employees and advising management, and committed to the values of fairness and justice, this may be the position for you.
The newly established two-person office supports a 75 person staff. In addition to the HR Officer, the office includes the HR Associate who, over the last year, has been developing into a full fledged generalist. As this position has never existed before, we will consider a range of options, including full, part-time and intermittent work schedules, as well as short term and long term commitments.
This important hire involves a rigorous selection process, including a candidate self-assessment and a telephone interview. If you are among the highly qualified candidates recommended for additional consideration, the first round of face-to-face interviews are planned for the week of April 6.
The NYCLU is seeking a HR professional with proven expertise in: (1) planning, coordinating and executing day-to-day delivery of HR services; and, (2) coaching and counseling managers and staff in preserving and strengthening the human relationships on which all other organizational activities depend.
HR Responsibilities Include:
Recommends, develops, executes and updates HR policies, programs and procedures.
Resolves issues related to compensation, benefits and pay, and time and attendance.
Assists managers and employees in developing solutions to routine and complex human relational issues, including grievances and complaints
Ensures fair employment practice requirements are met
Provides HR policy guidance and interpretations in support of
Provides relational coaching for individuals and teams, and strives for continuous improvement of organizational performance and individual professional development.
