Human Rights Watch (“HRW”), an international human rights monitoring and advocacy organization, is seeking a Human Resources Associate to provide administrative assistance to the Pre-Hire Unit of the Global Human Resources (“HR”) Division, which is responsible for all aspects of recruitment and onboarding, as well as internship/fellowship programs and other organizational-wide initiatives. This position reports to the HR Manager who leads the Pre-Hire Unit.

Responsibilities:

1. Assist the Pre-Hire Unit and hiring managers with the recruitment process, including screening candidates, interviews, and selections;

2. Assist with HRW’s onboarding and orientation process for employees and interns worldwide, including updating orientation materials and creating orientation packets;

3. Maintain employee and intern records in the Human Resources Management System (“HRMS”) and ensure that all data is entered and accurate; Maintain HR filing systems and ensure the ongoing integrity of electronic personnel records;

4. Create reports and extract and analyze data from one or more sources in order to provide effective data reporting in an articulate and cogent manner;

5. Assist with the coordination of the global internship and fellowship program;

6. Assist the Manager in representing HRW at career fairs and similar events;

7. Assist with monthly payroll reporting and activities and track expenses related to the work of the Pre-Hire Unit;

8. Coordinate departmental meetings and organization-wide special events;

9. Assist the Manager in providing staff training pertaining to the work of the Pre-Hire Unit;

10. Assist the HR team on special projects; and

11. Perform other tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

Education: A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field is required.

Experience: A minimum of two years of human resources experience with a global company is desirable.

Related Skills and Knowledge:

1. Strong computer knowledge, including Windows, MS Office, Adobe Acrobat Professional, database management, and internet research, is required. Experience with Salesforce, M-Files, and/or ZenDesk is highly desirable.

2. Ability to create HR forms, organizational charts, various reports, data tracking systems, and marketing materials is required.

3. Prior experience assisting with the recruitment and onboarding process, particularly screening, is required.

4. Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize competing demands with minimal supervision, and handle numerous tasks simultaneously while maintaining a strong attention to detail is required.

5. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with all levels of staff within the organization are required.

6. Excellent client service and support skills are required.

7. Analytical skills and the ability to solve problems creatively are required.

8. Good judgment, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality are required.

9. Excellent time-management skills are required.

10. Strong oral and written communications skills in English are required; proficiency in another language is desirable.

11. Demonstrated ability to work successfully with a team of talented professionals in multiple global locations is highly desirable.

12. Strong generalist understanding of HR processes is highly desirable.

Salary and Benefits: Salary range starts at $42,765. Human Rights Watch offers comprehensive employer-paid benefits, including medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, an outstanding retirement savings plan and twenty (20) days vacation per year.
