The Asia Foundation’s Programs team seeks a Junior Associate (JA) to work in San Francisco, CA office during the summer 2015 program period of June 22 – September 18, 2015.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

During the 12-week program, the JA will work primarily with the Director of Programs and be mentored by the Senior Vice President on these three primary initiatives:

* Annual Planning and Budget Process: The JA will support the Foundation’s Annual Plan and Budget process. The JA will assist the Programs Unit in analyzing materials, reviewing Country Office and Other Unit submissions, and preparing reports for the Board. The JA will also assist in preparing relevant materials on new projects and program activities for Foundation Board meetings.

* Programs OneTAF: The JA will be responsible for developing the Programs OneTAF site by working with both Thematic and field staff.

* TAF-Australia: The JA will support our work with the Board of Directors of TAF-Australia and the Programs unit efforts to expand the Foundation’s engagement in Australia through new partnerships.

Deliverables:

* Participate in Annual Planning meetings with senior management and Country Representatives. Complete all materials needed for the Annual Plan and Budget Board meeting.

* Migrate Programs content onto the OneTAF system and create a clear display of key Programs information on the site. Collaborate with Theme staff to identify additional areas where we can share further information through OneTAF.

* Successfully support the Programs Unit’s preparations for the TAF-Australia Board meetings and Australia engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Positions for the Douglas K. Bereuter Program for Junior Associates in Asian Affairs are expected to be very competitive. We are seeking talented, high-energy individuals who will benefit from their affiliation with the Foundation and contribute to the organization as well.

Candidates must have the following:

Received a post-graduate degree within the past two years. In addition, to be considered, a candidate must have completed and obtained this degree prior to the beginning of the program period. The summer 2015 program period is June 22, 2015 – September 18, 2015.

Completed graduate studies in Asia-related areas: international relations, international development, public administration, public policy, law, political science, economics, or sociology with work experience in Asia

Authorization to legally work in the United States without sponsorship

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Great organizational skills

Great computer skills
