JOB TITLE: LGBT Employment Services Associate

REPORTS TO: Associate Director of Economic Development

STATUS: Full-Time/ Non-Exempt/ Permanent

COMPENSATION: Competitive salary, paid medical insurance, paid vacation time, personal days and holidays

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday; flexibility and occasional evenings will be required

GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Associate Director of Economic Development, the Employment Services Associate is responsible for supporting the Center’s LGBTQ Employment Services programs, providing vocational case management, placement, and referrals services. Including outreach, intakes, follow-up, retention support to participants and community partners. Furthermore, the Employment Services Associate supports the administrative, reporting, and enrollment activities for the Center’s Employment Services programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Work with the Associated Director of Economic Development and team to develop and implement program goals, plans, and timelines.
Conduct intakes, assess client services eligibility, identify immediate needs, provide employment services, and link them to the appropriate services.
Support the LGBTQ Emplopyment Program by recruiting program participants, conducting workshops, job clubs, and networking groups.
Recruit, train and support professional mentors and volunteers.
Provide vocational case management and career services and retention support to LGBTQ and allied participants.
Assist in writing and development of program materials and resources, including outreach materials, referral resource materials, and resources for program participants, social media based outreach materials and other program materials.
Support administrative and client retention services including program evaluation, accurately documenting client services, and collecting and entering client data.
Support the outreach efforts for Center’s Employment Services programs, including: conducting recruitment at external events, planning and coordination of special events, drafting of communications and outreach materials, serving as a liaison for referral agencies, and development/ maintenance of outreach database / contact lists.
Provide other program support including; attending collaborative meetings, monitoring the activities of partners, serving as a liaison for all activities related to the mentoring program and/or collaborative activities, assist in preparation of client services data for program and grant reports, and other activities to support the Employment Services programs.Strong social media skills a plus.
Actively participate as a member of the Economic Development Department, including supporting program activities and general Center functions as appropriate.
Develop and maintain community resources. Schedule and conduct outreach with outside agencies to increase referrals and awareness of the Center’s Employment Services programs.
Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications & Experience

1.Sensitivity and commitment to the LGBTQ community and familiarity with the diversity of transgender, lesbian, gay, and bisexual identities and experiences are required. Experience working with the transgender community is required.

2.A minimum of one year of experience in workforce development or employment services, community development, case management, volunteer management and/or related experience. Additional related experience will be considered.

3.Spanish bilingual skills is plus. Fluency in English is required.

4.Detail-oriented, hardworking, and able to complete paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.

5.Understanding of local resources, local and state employment laws, and employment resources for the LGBTQ communities.

6.Strong interpersonal relationship skills and ability to work both independently and within a team-oriented organizational structure. Commitment to detail and teamwork is a must.

7.Strong verbal and written communications skills.

8.Computer proficient in MS Office or similar programs, understanding of concept of relational database, competent in using Internet and excellent research abilities. Social media and web marketing skills a plus.

9.Innovative and entrepreneurial approach, including solution oriented approaches to complex issues. Ability to adapt to changing environment and priorities.

10.Commitment to the mission of the San Francisco LGBT Community Center. Experience and commitment to working in a multicultural environment. 11.Must be able to work in a culturally diverse and fast paced environment. 12.Requires flexibility in working some evening and/or week-end hours.
