Organizer – Alliance for a Green Economy – Syracuse, NY

Are you an environmentalist who also cares about social justice? Do you want to see New York transition to a 100% carbon-free and nuclear-free energy system? Are you excited about grassroots organizing and energy policy? Are you looking for a job where you can use your skills and experience to bring about major changes in the way New York produces and consumes energy?

Alliance for a Green Economy (AGREE) is a coalition of environmental and social justice organizations working together to bring about a just transition to a 100% renewable energy system. We work for the expansion of energy conservation, energy efficiency and clean energy. We campaign to shut down nuclear power plants and stop natural gas expansion. We build alliances to fight for racially, economically and socially just energy policy in New York, local renewables ownership and energy democracy. We also work locally in the Syracuse area and Central New York to help residents and businesses make their own transition to clean energy.

Women and people of color are strongly encouraged to apply.

AGREE’s campaigns for the 2015 and 2016 include:

Opposing consumer bailouts of economically struggling nuclear reactors in Central New York
Co-coordinating the Energy Democracy Alliance, a collaboration of diverse organizations from all over New York working to advance a just and participatory transition to a resilient, localized, and democratically controlled clean energy economy in New York State.
Helping to coordinate Solarize CNY, which makes going solar easier and more affordable through public education and bulk discounts.
Launching a renewable heat research and public education campaign to push for a transition from fuel oil, kerosene, and natural gas in space heating toward renewable-ready geothermal and cold-climate heat pumps.
