The National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NCJFCJ), a non-profit organization headquartered in Reno, NV, is seeking aProgram Director for the Conference and Travel Management Department (CTM), to build on the exceptional 77-year record of improving courts and systems’ practice and raising awareness of the core issues that touch the lives of many of our nation’s children and families. As a leader in continuing education opportunities, research, publication development, technical assistance, and policy development in the field of juvenile and family justice, the NCJFCJ is unique in providing practice-based resources to jurisdictions and communities nationwide.
The mission of NCJFCJ is to provide all judges, courts, and related agencies involved with juvenile, family, and domestic violence cases with the knowledge and skills to improve the lives of the families and children who seek justice. The CTM Department of the NCJFCJ focuses its work on providing support services as a centralized function within the organization by standardizing and overseeing processes and the logistical management of NCJFCJ’s travel, meetings, and special events. This includes the coordination and execution of travel, meeting, and event planning. CTM adheres to organizational guidelines, values, and goals while ensuring budget and reporting compliance within funding sources. CTM staff work collaboratively in a team setting to achieve its mission.
The CTM Program Director position is highly challenging, yet rewarding, requiring a unique blend of knowledge, skills, and abilities. This position’s responsibilities are to manage a team of planning specialists; oversee the organization’s travel management program; and implement NCJFCJ’s national conferences and meetings. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership, managerial, organizational, and financial skills, as well as a strong results-oriented track record, with a focus on systems analysis and evaluation to maximize efficiency and to keep the momentum of the department going as technology changes and new opportunities arise. Solid technical skills and experience implementing computerized applications and software to improve and automate planning and travel management processes are an important requirement for this position.
Under the general guidance of the Chief Financial Officer, the successful candidate for this position will be a team player with ability to span internal and external challenges and opportunities and develop strategies for managing and overseeing the many and varied conferences, meetings, special events and the logistical requirements of each. This position requires ability to remain calm under pressure; to navigate all levels of the organization, from subordinate staff to the CEO and Board of Directors and volunteer committees; to understand budgeting and be adept at contract negotiations; familiarity with grant-funding and federal regulations is desirable.
The minimum requirements for this position include:
Bachelor’s degree; Certified Meeting Planner designation preferred
Six years’ progressively responsible professional or leadership experience
Supervisory experience
Experience in all aspects of association or nonprofit meetings coordination and management
Strong financial management, budgeting, and contract negotiation skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
Experience designing and administering RFP’s
Experience in exhibition, sales, and conference/planning management
Background in fundraising event planning desirable
Experience working with board of directors and volunteer committees
Familiarity with database management systems, preferably with iMIS database
Experience in nonprofit, grant-funded environment preferred
