The Programs Department organizes more than 150 events every year with leading political and business leaders, academics, journalists and artists. World Affairs events are a unique opportunity for the public to engage in candid discussions with people who are shaping the world. Programs Department Interns are a vital part of the team. Responsibilities include:
Conducting speaker and topic research: research background information on speakers and topics and compile information from a wide range of news, magazine and video sources.
Assisting with various aspects of program planning, including: drafting blog posts, preparing mailings, compiling speaker biographies and creating event flyers.
Providing programs staff with logistical support during event preparation.
Staffing events: setting up auditorium, registering members and collecting question cards. Programs Interns are expected to staff at least three programs per month. Most programs take place in the evenings, Monday-Thursday.
Assisting with other administrative support upon request.
Hours: Approximately 10 hours per week, including some evenings. Start date preferably the second or third week of January; end date in May. Start and end dates are flexible, please include availability in cover letter.
Compensation: Interns are welcome to attend Council forums and other standard events free of charge and are given a one-year membership following the successful completion of the internship.This internship is unpaid, however we will reimburse for monthly commuting costs.
