Crisis Group is looking for a full-time intern to assist the UN Advocacy Department. This position will begin mid-October, with a negotiable start date, and will last for a minimum of six months full-time. The intern will be supervised by the Director of Multilateral Affairs/Head of Office. The intern’s main tasks will include scheduling appointments, handling correspondence, keeping track of calendars, travel and event coordination, note taking and answering phones as well as researching and writing on various topics. The intern may also be asked to attend meetings and events as a representative of the organization. The position is primarily administrative in nature but offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in a high profile international NGO and to learn about the country specific and thematic issues as well as the UN system.
Qualifications:
Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in international relations or a similar subject
Strong administrative skills
Understanding of the United Nations system, preferably with experience working or interning within the UN
Excellent verbal and written command of English
Other language proficiency a plus
Strong research and note taking skills
Knowledge of Crisis Group reports helpful
Computer skills in Microsoft Office, email and internet applications
Self-motivated, flexible and reliable
Ability to deal confidently and swiftly with a variety of demanding tasks
Must be available 40 hours per week for a period of at least six months
Authorization to work in the United States
