Full-time AmeriCorps Grant Coordinator at YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School, an alternative 12th-Grade-only, diploma-granting high school for high-school dropouts ages 18 to 21.
Overview
YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School is a 12th-Grade-only charter school for young adults between the ages of 18 and 21 who have dropped out of high school. Programmatically, the School spans two years. During the first year, approximately 220 students alternate between six-week sessions of academic instruction and one of an array of vocational-training programs which include building trades, business administration, child development and healthcare. The students earn a competency-based high-school diploma, work toward a certification in their chosen vocational area, and serve as part-time AmeriCorps Members. In the second year, the new graduates receive organizational support as they pursue their postsecondary goals.

Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the AmeriCorps Grant Coordinator is to manage and implement all administrative aspects associated with our National Direct and State AmeriCorps grants. This position reports to the Director of Student Life. Regular hours for this position are from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
The specific responsibilities and duties of the AmeriCorps Grant Coordinator include, but are not limited to, the following:
Work with YouthBuild Philadelphia’s programmatic staff to ensure adherence to the rules and regulations governing the grant-funding;
Enter data into the online system, manage enrollment and exit compliance, and calculate service hours on a monthly basis;
Organize and prepare member data and files for audits;
Ensure that participants bring in all required documentation that is needed to be compliant with the grant prior to enrollment;
Ensure that members complete on-going required paperwork for files;
Coordinate and implement the goals as described in the AmeriCorps grants, including: data management using online software; managing service-hour completion for full-time and part-time members; completing Annual Progess Reports; ensuring that the program is aligned with performance measures; and attending AmeriCorps training sessions;
Regularly review YouthBuild Philadelphia policies and procedures to ensure program compliance, consistency and equity;
Help plan and coordinate three all-school service projects during national service days for 9/11 Day of Service, Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, and AmeriCorps Week;
Establish and maintain partnerships with local community organizations in order to collaborate on service projects and utilize partnerships to meet program goals;
Oversee the development of a meaningful community service-learning curriculum and corresponding service projects;
Conduct grant-related trainings for staff to ensure compliance;
Participate in the School’s Coaching Program;
Participate in community service projects, keeping with service ethic of the school;
Continue to develop skills through trainings and professional development offered at the school and outside.
Qualifications
A bachelors degree
Acts 24, 34, 114 and 151 criminal background clearances (PA, Child Abuse, Federal/FBI, and PA Department of Education)
Minimum of two years of professional work experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Highly organized and detail oriented
Professional demeanor
Able to model professional behavior for students at all times
High level of attention to detail
Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines
