Position Title: Case Manager

POSITION OVERVIEW: Powerful Voices is hiring a Case Manager to work closely with the Program Manager and a second Case Manager to provide case management services to Seattle-area middle and high school girls who have experienced violence. The position is responsible for ensuring case management and advocacy is available and delivered to youth referred to us through our partnership with the Seattle Youth Violence Prevention Initiative (SYVPI).
HOURS/SCHEDULE : 40 hours/week, generally 9-5 Monday-Friday. Schedule to be determined upon hiring. Candidate must drive between PV office and a number of school/community sites primarily in central and south Seattle on a daily basis. Also must be able to adjust schedule occasionally for evening and weekend work to meet the needs and schedules of youth and their families.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: Full-time (1.0 FTE) salary of, $31,732 – $40,231, DOE. Powerful Voices provides full medical/dental/vision benefits, 11 paid holidays a year and 4 weeks Paid Time Off (PTO). Employees who use personal vehicles for Powerful Voices’ business will be reimbursed at a standard rate and/or Powerful Voices will reimburse employees for utilizing public transportation. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage a caseload of 22 girls ages 12-19 enrolled in the Seattle Youth Violence Prevention Initiative
Attempt to contact referred youth within 48 hours of referral
Conduct intake and make knowledgeable assessment of youth’s risk and need level
Conduct one-to-one interviews to arrange immediate service follow-up
Collaborate with youth to create a strengths-based Individualized Service Plan outlining their goals
Facilitate regular goal-setting, support and check-in meetings with enrolled youth (may include school, community or home visits)
Work with co-case manager to plan and facilitate group outings and small support groups that meet needs/wants case managers and youth have identified
Research and develop curriculum to use in group and one on one case management sessions
Build relationships with families, community members, service providers, and partners to create support network for youth
Provide service referral and follow up to ensure youth receive needed services, adapt these as needed
Attend meetings and trainings with community partners, including monthly SYVPI and case manager meetings
Obtain multiple forms of paperwork youth need to participate in case management, many of which include guardian signatures, maintain comprehensive case files for internal use and keep information up to date (weekly) on the SYVPI city-wide data base
Prepare monthly report for SYVPI tracking of completed service plans and indicator and outcome achievement
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with Powerful Voices employees and Board of Directors to achieve the mission and vision of the organization.
Perform role in a way that reflects the values of Powerful Voices; safety and health, justice, integrity, diversity, and innovation.
Develop and maintain respectful rapport when interacting with youth participants and their families.
Maintain appropriate boundaries with youth with clear understanding and execution of role as a case manager, youth advocate and adult ally.
Provide all services utilizing a strengths-based, girl specific, relationship-based approach.
Serve as a member of the staff Leadership Team. This team meets monthly to ensure alignment to Powerful Voices values, mission and strategic plan, provide feedback & decision making around PV procedures and policies. Leadership Team members also provide support to community engagement efforts such as Girl Justice trainings, and DigiGirlz.
Participate in supervisory meetings, retreats, Leadership Team meetings and Powerful Voices’ annual meeting.
Support administrative staff in development and marketing efforts including, but not limited to, mailings, agency newsletters, fundraising activities, site visit coordination, and other community outreach events
Demonstrate teamwork and open communication.
Provide services in a manner that expedites the meeting of contract requirements and program outcomes.
Maintain documentation in a timely, thorough and accurate manner.
Follow agency policies and procedures.
Perform other appropriate tasks related to your professional role as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Passion for the mission and vision of Powerful Voices.
Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services or related field; or equivalent education/work experience.
Strong track record of Case Management and youth development experience including; motivational interviewing, risk-assessment, one-on-one support/coaching, gender specific programming, strengths-based practices, curriculum development, small group facilitation, crisis management and partnership management experience.
Skilled working with youth experiencing high risk factors. We are particularly seeking candidates knowledgeable in working with youth experiencing/facing: loss of parent(s), incarcerated parent(s), fatherlessness, and/or being raised by guardians that are not their birth parents; gang-involvement, truancy, homelessness, pregnancy, commercial sexual exploitation, and domestic violence.
Understanding of issues that feed youth-related violence and how youth violence manifests locally. Demonstrated experience in anti-violence, violence prevention/intervention, and conflict resolution fields.
Familiarity with local youth-serving organizations and health/mental health/education resources and willingness to collaborate with Seattle Public Schools, Police Department and the Juvenile Justice system.
Demonstrated cultural responsiveness and a strong social, racial, gender and economic justice framework. Qualified candidates will demonstrate ability to facilitate workshops and discussions with young people to help them explore social justice topics.
Willingness to build solidarity with female-identified community & allies and to engage and welcome male identified allies.
A self-starting and energetic person with the ability to gracefully manage deadlines, priorities, and multiple projects and work independently.
Strong written and oral communication skills, including openness to feedback, and ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Critical problem-solving skills and a love for tackling challenges and creating systems.
High levels of integrity, trustworthiness, flexibility, compassion, humor, edginess, creativity, and persistence necessary to address the practicalities of a growing nonprofit.
Commitment to continually improving our effectiveness in serving youth by giving and receiving feedback about professional growth areas and to personal self-awareness that includes recognizing and working on individual areas of privilege and oppression and self-care.
Willingness to accommodate flexible schedule and to to adjust schedule during the school year for evening programming with youth.
Proficient in utilizing Gmail, Google Drive and Microsoft Office to communicate and coordinate in a team setting.
Willingness to undergo a criminal background check (state and national).
WA State driver’s license and personal vehicle preferred.

Community Engagement: Powerful Voices partners with others to advance social justice through workshops for girls in detention, 1:1 mentoring (Adult Ally program), trainings to deliver our curriculum (Girl Justice), and girl-led conferences on social justice issues (Girlvolution).
We locate our innovative and evidence-based programs in public middle schools, the juvenile justice system, and community centers.
