As part of a holistic vision for social services, the YWCA of Queens provides afterschool programming to middle school students in Queens, as well as ESOL classes and case management services to their families. To strengthen this project, we seek a Bengali-speaking case manager to assist families in accessing vital services in the community, such as housing, SNAP benefits, healthcare, and SCRIE. S/he will report to the Director of Operations, Senior & Social Services and will work collaboratively with several teams, devoting his/her time to providing case management services and to assisting in the planning and facilitation of community workshops.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Consult with clients one-on-one to understand their needs
Develop individual and/or family Individual Support Plan (ISP)
Assist families in applying for resources and services
Oversee the progress of each client through regular communication
Maintain up-to-date case notes
Assist in planning and conducting workshops in the areas of health, financial literacy, parenting, job readiness, civic engagement, immigrant rights and advocacy
Develop and maintain partnerships with community resource agencies and not-for-profits
Attend trainings as required
Assist in preparation for City or other audits related to the program operation and delivery of services
Skills & Qualifications
Fluency in Bengali required
Bachelor’s Degree required
At least 1 year of relevant case management experience required, 5+ years preferred
Strong interest in working with families and immigrant populations preferred
Preference will be given to candidates with a background using a strengths-based case management approach and who have an understanding of healthy family and youth development principles
Superior time management, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with program and development staff
Cultural competency and sensitivity
Salary and Benefits: This is part-time, hourly position includes a competitive salary.
