About The LEADERship
Founded in 1983 through the vision of the Greater Baltimore Committee, The LEADERship is an independent not-for-profit social enterprise that develops, engages, and connects Baltimore’s most talented individuals to realize their greatest potential as leaders within the community, within their organizations and within themselves to create a thriving, vibrant and just metropolitan region.
Today, we strive to achieve that goal through our signature 10-month leadership development program and through a variety of activities engaging our 1,500 program graduates.
Now in its 34th year, our program annually convenes 55+ diverse individuals in executive positions from organizations in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors for an intense 10-month learning experience focused on three elements:
1. Exploring Baltimore’s history, challenges, assets, and people
2. Developing civic leadership competencies
3. Forging strong, substantive relationships between participants
Through immersive field-based learning opportunities, small and large group discussions, retreats, competency building activities, and interactions with a broad spectrum of Baltimore’s most influential individuals and organizations, the LEADERship’s staff works collaboratively to create a transformative development experience for participants. We also provide learning and networking opportunities for our 1,500 alumni.
After decades of success in connecting graduates in our community to each other and to their roles in leading change in Baltimore, The LEADERship is poised to increase its impact, continuing to strengthen what we already do, as well as consider additional opportunities to contribute to Baltimore’s vibrancy.
