The Pennsylvania Health Access Network (PHAN) is a consumer-driven health advocacy organization with an immediate opening for a contracted communications and development coordinator. Our passion is strengthening the voices of healthcare consumers in a statewide movement to improve the quality, value, and affordability of healthcare. PHAN works every day in rural and underserved communities, servicing over two thirds of Pennsylvania’s counties, and connecting thousands to coverage. The past two years have allowed us to expand our operations significantly. This position will develop the necessary supports to build upon that growth and ensure sustainability. The successful candidate will work closely with our state director to ensure the organization is communicating its successes and vision for healthier communities to its key constituencies: consumers, donors, funders, advocates, and policy makers, while looking strategically across our programs and operations to identify and develop key funding partnerships. This is an independent contract position that will end December 31, 2016.

Responsibilities include:
Development:
Develop and maintain an individual donor program using PHAN’s online databases (Salsa, Salesforce)
Oversee implementation of direct mail and online fundraising as well as the development of an annual report
Oversee donor recognition and acknowledgement
Manage the logistics for PHAN’s annual conference including generating revenue from the event
Work with the Director to identify funding opportunities
Grant writing
Develop a process with guidance from the Executive Director, to identify and collect metrics to evaluate projects, programs and overall organizational strategic plan
Oversee PHAN’s year end fundraising drive

Communications:
Help boost the organizations social media presence
Creation of a strategic communications plan for PHAN driven campaigns
Engage and build PHAN’s email list in relevant campaigns using Salsa
Development of materials for PHAN conference
Develop and maintain PHAN’s campaign websites
Development of materials for PHAN’s health related work
Develop infographics as needed for campaigns and fundraising work
Develop a communications strategy for integration between PHAN databases

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required
Grant-writing and/or grants management experience
Experience with strategic planning and program evaluation
Strong writing and editing skills
Strong organizational and project management skills
Commitment to PHAN’s mission and knowledge of health policy and advocacy
Experience with Salsa and Salesforce a plus
This is a full time contract position that will end December 31, 2016
