DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a highly organized, motivated and passionate new team member.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement SIMA’s overarching communications strategy to reach targeted constituencies, and new audiences with benchmarks. Development, content creation, and management of the organization’s communications channels, including press releases, e-news, and social media accounts (including but not limited to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Vimeo, YouTube).
Reports to: Executive Director
Time commitment 5 days a week in office
Position Requirements
Educational and Certifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in communications-related, business or public relations field or commensurate professional experience.
Essential Knowledge and Qualifications:
Must be a digital native AND an excellent copywriter! Someone who knows and is passionate about the documentary filmmaking industry.
Professional experience in communications.
Incredibly organized.
Experience in drafting, editing and distributing press releases, brochures, newsletters, web content and other communications materials.
Experience in leveraging social media and networking sites to further mission.
Experience in managing multiple social media platforms, including but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Medium, Instagram, LinkedIn, Vimeo and YouTube.
Experience using social media analytic data to drive decision making and get results.
Experience in building relationships with media contacts and interacting with a wide variety of media professionals.
Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Office Suite, GoogleDocs, and Dropbox.
Knowledge of content marketing.
Experience working with a film and/or non-profit organization.
Experience in event coordination and marketing.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Excellent project management skills and ability to work both independently and in teams.
Familiarity with e-mail marketing and CRM software.
Passionate about human rights, social justice, documentary and creative media.
Desirable Knowledge and Experience:
Experience working in a start-up environment.
Knowledge of or experience with work related to documentary film, journalism, peace, education, human rights, global development, social justice.
Familiarity with documentary film related impact campaigns, or cause marketing.
Familiarity with Emma e-mailing software, WordPress,Hootsuite, Medium, Buffer and Google Analytics
Film festival background is a plus.
Responsibilities Include:
Communications Strategy Address and refine long-range vision, strategies and goals.
Develop and implement a communications strategy that integrates multiple means of distribution and dissemination of SIMAs ongoing screening events, and programs.
Coordinate with other SIMA staff to ensure quality brand integration and public awareness across community engagement, and SIMA program targets.
Attend staff and Board meetings and provide reports as requested.
Manage temporary or part-time communications staff and/or interns as assigned.
Work with other staff to develop, maintain and expand SIMA partnerships, clients and other organizational relationships.
Assist other SIMA staff as needed; and perform other duties as assigned.
Social & Multimedia Management and Distribution –Manage continuous quality output.
Manage SIMA editorial calendar and post regularly on social media, including Twitter, Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn and Instagram
Maintain a strong social media presence through interaction and knowledge of social trends
Coordinate advertising of event specific items through various channels (including list servers, event platforms, partner sites and social media posts)
Connect with media, blogs, news agencies and other press on SIMA content and activities.
Build and maintain contacts with media, PR and marketing personnel and make connections with SIMA program related targets and affiliates.
Events – Attend events and provide necessary event communication.
Attend and assist in the development and implementation of SIMA programmatic activities and events.
Create post event write-ups and summaries for use in various communication platforms.
Draft, edit, and contribute ideas/critiques to event programs, media selections, press announcements and invitations.
Campaign, Program and Partnership Communications – .
Generate emails including monthly-newsletters, event specific and program specific targeted emails and related media/ stakeholder correspondence.
Maintain and update contact lists using CRM software
Update website as needed with events and additional program information, including general content editing/updating.
Develop newsletters and reports including concept/theme management and creation, content/copy, pictures, structure, manage layout/print process with design vendors of SIMA.
Produce original blog content including interviews, profiles, reviews, and opinion pieces.
Develop comprehensive campaign summaries with measured outcomes.
Build and maintain partnerships through regular strategic communication, including distributing media assets, thank you letters and reports.
Follow through with campaign related communication tasks
Develop draft presentations for targeted program and campaign outreach and marketing
