Community Program Coordinator – Asian Pacific Women’s Center – Los Angeles, CA

The Community Program Coordinator, under the supervision of the interim Executive Director and guidance of the Clinical Supervisor, will be responsible for enhancing the quality and breadth of client direct services and outreach efforts at Asian Pacific Women’s Center. Through program development, team work, administrative activities, direct services provision and outreach, the Community Program Coordinator will generate and oversee services provided to transitional shelter residential and non-residential survivors.

Key Responsibilities

Direct Services: • Perform intake screenings, lethality assessments and basic needs assessments for potential clients and provide daily crisis intervention, domestic violence education, resource and referral services to callers. • Provide case management and advocacy services to clients enrolled in APWC programs; works with each client to develop and coordinate self-sufficiency plan. Provide follow up services to program graduates who have entered into permanent housing. • Identify client needs and develop activities (e.g. support groups, workshops). • Provide individual, family and group therapy to clients. • Provide educational workshops to clients.

Administrative: • Accurately track and record client services delivered, along with client and caller demographic and statistical information into database for reporting purposes and performs a variety of routine duties including maintaining residents’ records; computer input of service data; conflict resolution between residents; court accompaniment; and other duties as directed by supervisor. • Complete all monthly, quarterly and annual reports related to the program goals reports related to funder requirements and goals and submit to interim director in a timely manner. • Assist supervisor in ensuring programs are meeting grant requirements. • Document all program protocols.

Supervisory: • Coordinate counseling caseloads of MFT trainees/ MSW interns to meet client needs and funder requirements. • Provide supervision to BSW and MSW interns. • Evaluation of services (identify measurable successes and areas of improvement).

Outreach: • Coordinate with partner agencies to provide appropriate services to clients and community. • Engage in outreach activities to inform potential clients of services. • Participate in community speaking and tabling engagements to educate others about APWC and domestic violence issues. • Maintain and strengthen relationships with case managers and program managers of domestic violence agencies and other community partners to develop community resource to benefit clients and organizations.

Teamwork/Other: • Participate in regular program meetings. • Facilitate some team meetings. • Work in cooperation with Transitional Shelter Coordinator to ensure program needs are met. • Provide general support to family advocates, including responding to emergencies, covering the shelter, providing transportation and assisting in the maintenance of shelter operations • Attend staff meetings and participate in the preparation of related reports as requested by supervisor. • Must comply with Asian Pacific Women’s Center policies and procedures concerning security, treatment of clients and program requirements. • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications • MSW or MFT, or related master’s degree. • Experience in domestic violence case management activities and counseling. • Completed CA state-mandated 40 hours of training in domestic violence, highly desirable. • Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues affecting survivors of domestic violence, their families and community. • Bi-lingual in Spanish or API language preferred. • Bi-cultural knowledge strongly preferred. • Ability to work with diverse cultures, community and professional groups. • Ability to work some evenings and some weekends. • Ability to work independently using sound judgment and decision-making skills. • Excellent speaking, writing, and listening skills. • Must be willing to undergo fingerprinting, drug testing, and TB testing as required. • Must have valid California driver’s license, insurance, and automobile that may be used during working hours. • Ability to support the mission and philosophy of Asian Pacific Women’s Center which includes acceptance of multicultural diversity.
