Position Summary
Mojave Desert Land Trust (MDLT) is looking for a content writer to support the organization’s programs and communications. This position will work across departments to produce content regarding MDLT campaigns and activities. The Content Writer should be someone passionate about protecting the California Deserts. This is an ideal opportunity for a talented writer that thrives in using content to build relationships and inspire action.
Responsibilities
Develop and write new content including event announcements, press releases, emails, and social media posts.
Edit copy for content, accuracy, grammar, punctuation, voice, style, etc. in a timely and consistent manner.
Oversee creation of a content strategy and content calendar.
Establish organizational production processes for requesting, creating, editing, publishing, and retiring content.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Excellent writing and copywriting skills, including experience with writing for the web.
Fluency and comfort in technology.
Demonstrable knowledge of social media and digital trends.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience with Adobe Creative Suite strongly preferred.
High level of initiative and ability to function in both individual and team environments.
Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Creative and analytical thinker with lots of curiosity.
Strong organizational skills, detailed-oriented, and self-motivated.
Able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline driven team environment.
A sense of humor.
Experience & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations, or related communications field, or equivalent experience.
2+ years of experience in content development, marketing, social media, or PR.
Profile of written and editorial work, including digital writing.
Audience development experience preferred.
Bilingual, English/Spanish preferred.
