Deputy Director of Donor Services – Liberty Hill Foundation – Los Angeles, CA

POSITION SUMMARY

Directs and provides leadership to build and maintain the Donor Advised and Restricted Fund Program infrastructure. Administers all aspects of the Donor Advised and Restricted Fund Program including program management, donor and grantee relations, and oversees grants administration.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Primary areas of responsibility and tasks that may typically be assigned include but are not limited to:

Develops and implements annual plans for the Donor Advised and Restricted Fund Program.
Develops DA materials such as memoranda of understanding, background information on the Foundation and investment options, and outreach materials.
Monitors progress and generates reports for management and the Board of Directors.
Recommends and implements procedures with administration of DA Funds, giving circles, scholarship funds and restricted funds.
Oversees account opening requests and works with President/CEO and Chief Development Officer to establish account terms.
Develops grant dockets for donor advisors including donor advisor meetings, organization research and site visits.
Provides leadership for all stages of grants decision-making for all restricted funds and donor circles, with guidance from the Chief Development Officer and Director of Programs.
Provides customized outreach and program management for restricted funds.
Drafts and sends grant award letters, grant agreements, report forms and other correspondence.
Develops grantee descriptions for use in fundraising activities.
Participates in strategic planning and goal setting for the identification, cultivation and solicitation of new DA donors.
Solicits gifts to Liberty Hill Foundation from Donor Advisors.
Supervise a Donor Services Assistant. Supervise department volunteers as needed.
Communicates with donors and investment manager about donor investments
Engages in special projects as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Federal and state laws governing DA and Restricted funds
Fundraising approaches that identify, cultivate, solicit and steward a variety of high wealth donors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (or equivalent combination of education, training and experience).
Five to Seven years’ experience in donor service and grantmaking within a non-profit environment.
Deep understanding of donor-advised programs, IRS rules, structure and oversight
Computer proficiency in Windows operating system and MS Office software including Word and Excel. Ability to operate Internet applications and email as well as external vendors’ and proprietary software programs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Manual dexterity for operating a computer keyboard, printer, facsimile machine, photocopier, calculator and/or ten-key adding machine.
Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.

Ability to sit at a desk or conference table for extended periods of time within an office environment.
